Driving Test Options
Secure Lane Driving School offers Driving tests in either your vehicle or ours, and have an option for pre-paying for a 2nd chance if you fail the the first time. Secure Lane Driving School (SLDS) is licensed by the Texas Department of Public Safety to administer the Road Test. Students from SLDS, other commercial driving schools, public schools, and parent taught programs.
Test in Your Vehicle - Single Test - $80.00
You’re confident in your driving skills and ready to show it. Your vehicle has passed inspection, has current front and back plates, valid insurance, up‑to‑date registration, and tires in good condition. You also understand that if you arrive unprepared, miss your appointment, or if either you or your vehicle do not meet testing requirements, you will need to schedule another $80 session to try again.
Test in Your Vehicle - 2 Tests - $100.00
You’re ready to test but you’d like the assurance of a 2nd chance just in case. Your car has passed inspection, has current both front and back plates, current insurance, current registration and tires are in good condition. If you fail, your car fails, you miss your appointment or not prepared with the correct documents, you can rebook (1) time to attempt again.
Test in SLDS Vehicle - Single Test $100.00
You’re ready for your test and confident in your driving skills, but you don’t have a vehicle or yours isn’t road‑ready. Secure Lane Driving School provides fully equipped vehicles for your Road Test. You also understand that if you’re unprepared, miss your appointment, or do not pass, you’ll need to book another $100 session to try again.
Test in SLDS Vehicle - 2 Tests - $140.00
You feel more confident having 2 chances for your road test. However, your vehicle isn’t as ready as your are or you don’t own a vehicle. Secure Lane Driving School has vehicles ready to use for your Road Test. If you fail, miss the appointment or not prepared with documents, you have (1) more opportunity to attempt.

Please read and understand the below requirements and policies BEFORE your book your Road Test. If you arrive at your test time and you do not have the required documents or your vehicle fails inspection, you will be required to book another appointment with NO REFUND.
Please note, we do NOT make copies or print onsite. You MUST have all documentation in-hand.
REQUIREMENTS AND POLICIES
REQUIREMENTS FOR ROAD TEST TEENS & ADULTS:
ITD Certificate Requirement: Completion of Impact Texas Driving (ITD) is required for all individuals taking a drive skills test. You are required to present a certificate of completion before taking the drive test and it must be dated within 90 days of the scheduled appointment. Complete ITD requirements may be viewed at: https://impacttexasdrivers.dps.texas.gov
Learners Permit: All learner’s permit must be current in order to administer driving test.
Please renew if expired before the test.
Requirements for Adults 18-24 years of age:
Must have a valid Texas Learner’s License.
Must have an ADE-1317 or DE-964 certificate.
Must have a ITYD Certificate. Watch and print here.
Requirements for Adults 25 and older:
Must have a valid Texas Learners Permit
Must have a ITAD certificate. Watch and print here.
Students who attended a commercial school:
Must be between 16 and 24 years old and have completed a Texas TEEN drivers ed course.
Must have a DE 964 certificate (For Driver License Only).
Held a Texas learner’s permit for 6 months. The date is on the back of your permit.
Applicants 18 years plus that have DE-964 certificate must also watch ITTD video for ages 16 to 17.

Students who attended Parent Taught:
Must be between 16 and 24 years old and have completed a Texas TEEN drivers ed course.
Must have a PT-964 certificate (For Driver License Only).
Held a Texas Learners License for 6 months. The date is on the back of your permit.
Must have an ITTD Certificate. Watch and print here.
Students who attended Alternative Method (Online classroom and separate In-Car lessons):
Must be between 16 and 24 years old and have completed a Texas TEEN drivers ed course.
Must have a DE 964 certificate-printed from your Online Course provider for classroom completion.
Must have a DE 964 certificate (For Driver License Only) provided by your In-Car lesson provider.
Held a Texas learner’s permit for 6 months. The date is on the back of your permit

RULES AND POLICIES:
Please read carefully – By selecting booking your Road Test at the bottom of this page, you have reserved your slot. Should you miss this session or not have the correct documentation there is no refund.
THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR ROAD TEST FEES.
During the road test, examiners are prohibited from helping or coaching you, or answering questions except those concerning directions.
Vehicle Requirements Using Student Supplied Vehicle:
- Current Texas Auto Registration
- Paper Copy of Certificate of Insurance
- Texas Licenses Plates on Front and Rear of Car (out of state not allowed)
- Temporary Plates “Texas Buyer” or “Metal Texas Dealer”
- No Rental Cars
- No unsafe tires
RESCHEDULE A ROAD TEST: (Non-Refundable)
You will be required to reschedule your road test for the following reasons:
- Retaking test after failing;
- Retaking test because car failed inspection;
- Rescheduling due to non-compliance of documentation requirements;
- Rescheduling due to not arriving in time for test (at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled time)
If you booked the $80/$100 Single Attempt Options, you must rebook at the same price.
If you booked the $100/$140 Session, you may rebook your session here.
You may reschedule a session (1) time for a fee of $20 (your vehicle) or $40 (our vehicle) if rescheduled within 24 hours of your originally scheduled time. Reschedule here.
SLDS REQUIREMENTS:
All proper documentation MUST be presented at the time of check-in & the student’s car MUST pass inspection. If unable to meet ONE or BOTH of these requirements, the test will have to be rescheduled.
If you need to change your date or time, a rescheduling fee will apply and must be paid when you book your new time.
To prevent paying all over again, driving test should be taken on the scheduled date. All re-schedule or retakes should be done within a month.
Payment must be received in order to confirm a date and time for the Road Test.
